Notchy works best on any MacBook with a notch — MacBook Pro 2021 or later, or MacBook Air M2/M3/M4. On non-notch Macs and external monitors, it automatically renders as a sleek floating Dynamic Island pill.
macOS 15.0 Sequoia or later. Notchy is built with modern SwiftUI and AppKit APIs available in Sequoia+.
1. Download the DMG, open it, and drag Notchy to your Applications folder. 2. On macOS 15.0+ Sequoia, direct downloads trigger Gatekeeper ("Apple cannot verify Notchy"). You can open it instantly by running `xattr -cr /Applications/Notchy.app` in Terminal, or via System Settings ➔ Privacy & Security ➔ Security ➔ click "Open Anyway".
Just hover your cursor near the top center of your screen (the notch). The panel expands smoothly. Move away to collapse it back.
Notchy includes an in-app update checker in Settings ➔ About that notifies you whenever a new release is available.
Notchy is designed to be ultra-lightweight. It stays dormant until you hover and uses native macOS system hooks instead of heavy polling. Battery impact is virtually zero.
